Joseph R. Biden Jr., born November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is the 46th President of the United States, serving since January 20, 2021. A Democrat, he represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009, becoming its longest-serving member and chairing the Foreign Relations and Judiciary Committees. As Barack Obama's Vice President from 2009 to 2017, he led efforts on economic recovery and foreign policy. Biden defeated Donald Trump in the 2020 election. On July 21, 2024, he withdrew from the 2024 reelection campaign, endorsing Kamala Harris.
